Tips and Reminders - June 2000
Are you planning to take your vacation outside of Canada or your province of residence this summer?

If you are, remember that your Health Care Plan covers you and your dependants (provided you have family coverage), within 40 days of your date of departure, for a limit of $100,000 each in eligible medical expenses incurred as a result of an emergency.

The Emergency Travel Assistance is provided through World Access Canada Inc. If you contact them within 24 hours of getting emergency medical services, World Access will be able to co-ordinate the claiming process for you and make up front payments often required in other countries. Avoid problems and delay in the payment of a claim incurred outside Canada by calling the Emergency Travel Assistance provider right away when you need them!

You can also call the Emergency Travel Assistance number when you are traveling outside your province of residence. The Plan would cover the eligible expenses exceeding the amount covered by your provincial health plan.

World Access can be contacted at the following phone numbers:

  • In Canada & U.S.A. 1-800-854-7589

  • In other countries, call collect: (519) 742-6768

  • Fax: (519) 742-2581

Please have the Sun Life contract number (25298) and your personal certificate number handy when you call. If you do not know your certificate number, contact your pay specialist.
